Be Strong, Be Healthy, Be Happy

Our enriched health and wellness program will focus on your personal health journey. It is designed to inform conference attendees, exhibitors and family members of registered attendees of the various aspects of health, which include physical activity, nutrition, and stress management. These interactive sessions will focus on information and solutions to help you be and feel your best.

All events listed below will take place at the Venetian-Palazzo-Sands Expo. There is no additional cost to participate in these activities.

Walk It Out Challenge *NEW*

Participate in some friendly competition amongst your peers as you ‘walk it out’ and work your way up the leader board to win prizes.

APCO will be giving out free Bluetooth connected step trackers and sport towels to the first 100 participants that come to the Walk It Out Challenge booth located in the Sands Expo Lobby, Level 2.

The Walk It Out Challenge will start on Sunday, August 5, at 8:30 a.m. PT and end on Wednesday, August 8, at 12:30 p.m. PT. Participants can track their steps using their own personal Fitbit, Jawbone, Apple Watch, Garmin or the step trackers integrated on your iPhone/Android smart phone.

6:30 – 7:20 a.m. Sunrise Yoga on the Pool Deck
Venetian-Palazzo, Venetian Pool #1

Check in at the Canyon Ranch Venetian Spa Lobby located on the 4th level of the Venetian Tower. Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to register and sign the waiver. This all-activity level flow yoga class is perfect for those wanting to energize the start of their day with an outdoor yoga experience.
What to Bring and Wear: Wear light-weight, comfortable clothing with sneakers. Bring a bottle of water. Yoga mat and towel are provided.

12:00  – 1:00 p.m. Live Healthy, Spend Less: 7 Ways Wealth and Well-Being Are Connected

9-1-1 Telecommunicators who prioritize their health and wellness are more engaged on the job, use less sick time, and attract less citizen complaints. Feeling better in your body can literally save you money! In this one hour session, participants will learn proven, easy-to-use strategies to prioritize their self-care without creating even more stress.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify your biggest challenge when it comes to staying healthy
  • Understand the benefits of a “wellness lifestyle” and how it can change the way you work
  • Craft a personal plan for prioritizing your happiness and use it today

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Move Your Body: 5 Steps in the Healthy Direction
Venetian-Palazzo, Casanova 603, Level 1

The human body is designed move! Getting moving decreases stress, releases feel-good hormones and increases blood flow to the entire body. This one hour session gives participants the latest research from the fields of neuroscience and neuroimmunology, along with powerful tools to strengthen the immune system, sharpen mental acuity, and improve general feelings of well-being.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand how the mind-body connection influences daily happiness
  • Discover the reason why we don’t move as often as we should
  • Identify 5 specific ways to easily bring movement into your busy day

Take your strength to the next level with exercises using a variety of strength and stability equipment. This course is tailored for all levels of fitness activity
